Ok first of all I want to wish all muslim Happy Fasting and Ramadhan Kareem~~ May we all achieved all the barakhah that Allah has promised to us in this holy month. Secondly I want to share with all of you this interesting article on how to eat healthily in this fasting month... Sooo have a read my dear reader...

EAT RIGHT: Eat healthy this Ramadan by Farah Dhiba Khan (NST Online)

THIS article provides useful advice on how to avoid some common problems encountered in Ramadan. If followed, it would enable you to fast comfortably and enjoy fully the spiritual benefits of Ramadan.

During Ramadan, our diet should not differ very much from our normal diet and should be as simple as possible. It should be such that we would maintain our normal weight, neither losing nor gaining. However, if one is overweight, Ramadan is a good time to shed some weight. With eating only two meals a day, you will probably lose some weight any way. In view of the long hours of fasting, we should take slow digesting foods including fibre containing-foods rather than fast-digesting foods. Slow digesting foods last up to eight hours, while fast-digesting foods last only three to four hours. Slow-digesting foods contain grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats, semolina, beans, lentils, wholemeal flour and unpolished rice (called complex carbohydrates). Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour etc. (called refined carbohydrates). Fibre-containing foods are bran-containing foods such as whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables like green beans, peas, spinach, fruit with skin, dried fruit especially dried apricots, figs and prunes, almonds, etc. We should eat a well-balanced diet with food from each food group, such as fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, bread, cereals and dairy products. Fried foods are unhealthy and should be limited as they cause indigestion, heartburn and weight problems. AVOID l Fried and fatty foods. l Foods containing too much sugar. l Over-eating, especially at sahur (meal before dawn).

l Too much caffeinated drinks at sahur. Tea and coffee make you pass more urine, taking with it valuable mineral salts that your body will need during the day.

l Cigarettes. If you cannot give up smoking, cut down gradually, starting a few weeks before Ramadan.

EAT l Complex carbohydrates at sahur so that the food lasts longer, making you less hungry. l Dates are excellent source of sugar, fibre, carbohydrates, potassium and magnesium. l Almonds are rich in protein and fibre with less fat.

l Bananas are a good source of potassium, magnesium and carbohydrates.

DRINK As much water or pure fruit juices as possible between buka puasa (start of fasting) and bedtime so that your body can adjust fluid levels in time. Aim to drink at least 1.2 -1.5 litres of fluid. During this period, changes need to be made with regard to the diet. The following may serve as a general guide: Suggested schedule 7.28pm (or appropriate time): Break fast (buka puasa) with a light meal, for example, savoury congee and some fruit and dates with a sugar-free drink. This is like a snack.

Follow with maghrib prayers (fourth of five formal daily prayers for practising Muslims).

8pm: Have a breakfast-type meal. Practical examples of good breakfasts are an omelette, a bowl of high fibre cereals and some fresh fruit, baked beans and a little avocado on whole grain toast with a glass of skimmed milk and a handful of raisins or a big bowl of oat porridge with grated apple and a yoghurt. 8.40pm: Isyak /Terawih Prayers (the last of the daily prayers for Muslims).

10pm: Have a lunch-like meal — rice with lean meat, fish and vegetables and followed by a fruit or a low calorie dessert or a pasta dish with salads or just plain old good hot noodles soup. 11.30pm: Sleep 4.45am or 5am: This is the most important meal to start the day. Have a dinner-type meal. The biggest problem is being able to face such foods so early in the morning. But do try your best as the more you eat, the less likely you are to flake out completely in the middle of the day.

Emi rasa amat-amat rindu pada ayah... Nak kena marah... Nak kena tegur... Nak ajar macam mana bawak motor... Nak ajar macam mana masak Mee Hoon Sup power ayah tu...

Sebenarnya banyak sangat benda yang Emi rasa Emi dan adik-beradik lain terlepas bila ayah dah pergi... Ayah tak pernah dapat tengok anak-anak ayah berjaya mendapat segulung ijazah... Tengok Along dan Ayie kahwin... Paling terkilan Emi tak dapat nak bahagiakan ayah... Bagi ayah rasa duit gaji pertama Emi... Ayah dulu sanggup bersusah payah kerja untuk kami..tapi kami tak sempat nak membalasnya...

Ketika orang lain menyambut Hari Bapa disamping bapa-bapa mereka... dengan hadiah... kek.. . makan-makan... berjalan-jalan.. apa yang Emi mampu hanyalah menziarahi pusara ayah dan mendoakan kesejahteraan Ayah sahaja...

Walaupun kita dah tak lagi bersama... tapi dalam hati dan memori Emi sentiasa ada ayah...

Martabatkan Bahasa Melayu Dahulu

KUALA LUMPUR 15 Jun - Semua kaum di negara ini perlu memartabatkan penggunaan bahasa Melayu di samping memperkasakan bahasa Inggeris sebelum mempelajari bahasa ibunda lain seperti Tamil dan Mandarin.

Ketua II Gabungan Persatuan Penulis Nasional (Gapena), Profesor Datuk Dr. Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar berkata, sekiranya kerajaan mahu mewajibkan pengajaran bahasa-bahasa ibunda tersebut, ia perlu dilakukan secara berperingkat-peringkat bermula di sekolah rendah.

"Kita tidak boleh paksa murid-murid belajar bahasa-bahasa tersebut kerana ia agak menyukarkan," katanya ketika dihubungi di sini hari ini.

Kelmarin, Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin mengumumkan kerajaan akan mewajibkan penyediaan guru-guru Bahasa Mandarin dan Tamil di semua sekolah kebangsaan supaya pengajaran dan pembelajaran kedua-dua bahasa itu dapat dilaksanakan sepenuhnya di negara ini.

Menurut Abdul Latiff, langkah kerajaan itu sebenarnya merupakan strategi untuk menarik kaum lain menghantar anak mereka bersekolah di sekolah kebangsaan.

Namun, jelasnya, untuk mewajibkan pengajaran kedua-dua bahasa tersebut kepada pelajar, ia sedikit menyukarkan kerana secara tidak langsung akan membebankan mereka apabila terpaksa belajar banyak bahasa dalam satu masa.

Katanya, cadangan itu akan lebih berkesan sekiranya kedua-dua bahasa tersebut diwajibkan kepada murid-murid India dan Cina di sekolah kebangsaan manakala pelajar Melayu diberi pilihan belajar Bahasa Arab.

Selain itu, katanya, sekiranya cadangan itu diteruskan, ia perlu melibatkan murid di sekolah rendah terlebih dahulu manakala pilihan pula diberi kepada pelajar sekolah menengah.

Presiden Kesatuan Perkhidmatan Perguruan Kebangsaan (NUTP), Hashim Adnan pula berpendapat, cadangan itu perlu dilakukan secara berperingkat-peringkat dengan menyediakan prasarana yang mencukupi terlebih dahulu.

Katanya, sekiranya cadangan itu mahu dilaksanakan dalam waktu terdekat, ia memerlukan satu tempoh percubaan untuk menilai kesan dan kelemahan pelaksanaannya.

"Cadangan ini tidak boleh dilakukan secara sambil lewa kerana ia melibatkan bahasa.

"Kementerian perlu berunding dengan pihak-pihak yang terlibat terlebih dahulu untuk mengenal pasti kekurangan dan kelemahannya," katanya.

Presiden Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar Islam Malaysia (PKPIM), Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz pula berkata, cadangan itu terlalu awal untuk dilaksanakan kerana penguasaan bahasa Melayu di kalangan pelajar masih berada di peringkat tidak memuaskan.

Presiden Majlis Pemuafakatan Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru Nasional (PIBGN), Profesor Madya Datuk Dr. Mohamad Ali Hassan pula berpendapat, langkah itu tidak akan membelakangkan bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa kebangsaan.

"Langkah ini membolehkan setiap kaum mempelajari bahasa ibunda masing-masing dan ia tidak akan mengganggu proses untuk memartabatkan bahasa Melayu dan memperkukuhkan bahasa Inggeris di kalangan masyarakat," katanya.

Pendapat aku: Ya.. aku amat bersetuju dengan pendapat bahawa kita perlu memertabatkan Bahasa Melayu dulu. Walaupun pembelajaran Bahasa Mandirin dan Tamil adalah tidak wajib (Menurut TPM dan Menteri Pelajaran) tapi tak perlulah kita nak sangat anak-anak kita belajar bahasa lain dahulu. Ramai budak-budak zaman sekarang BM mereka haishkkk hancur (BM aku pun dah agak teruk.. tatabahasa dan kosa kata aku pun dah tak sebaik masa zaman sekolah dulu). Aku percaya hilang bahasa hilanglah bangsa... tak salah nak belajar bahasa-bahasa lain tapi bahasa sendiri kena juga kita kuasai dahulu. Bagi orang-roang lain (yang bukan Melayu) mereka juga perlu kuasai BM sebabnya mudah.. mereka duduk di negara Malaysia yang menggunakan BM sbagai bahasa kebangsaan dan bahasa pengantar harian... Hisk kalau berbincang perihal pendidikan dan bahasa ini sampai sudah takkan habis kerana ia melibatkan politik dan sentimen perkauman sedikit.... penat bila kita pikirkan ia..

World Cup Fever is on man!!! Yup!!! hahahah I am not a big fan of football but then it seems not right if I am not a part of this glorious moment =) My favourite team of course going to be England. reasons?? 1st I went there for two years for my study. 2nd Wayne Rooney and the other lots who it seems to me are good players and England is also considered as a good team~~ Most of the time they did not managed to perform due to luck and unforeseen circumstances.

Ahahha seriously guys I just don't know how to justify why I choose England. Reading back the reasons above just shows how amateur I am in talking about football right? But who cares??? Ok what ever it is I just hope England will do a great job in this year World Cup. Only once did they ever won the cup and I know how much they want it this year hehehhe

Btw I would like to share this with you taken from this website beritasemasa.com. Kebanyakan peminat tegar perlawanan Piala Dunia 2010 akan nampak mata sembab, badan lemah, dalam meeting memanjang “setuju” sahaja, suka lepak di surau di siang hari untuk “menyimpan tenaga”. Tetapi…………tapi bila tiba malam hari mereka-mereka inilah “juara” dan “jaguh” semasa menonton siaran langsung perlawanan Piala Dunia 2010.

Ha…..masa inilah kebanyakan peminat tegar akan menjadi individu yang cukup berdisiplin. Pukul 10 malam, pukul 7.30 malam dan pukul 2.30 pagi, tak payah disuruh, mereka-mereka ini sudah tahu “tugas-tugas” masing-masing untuk menyokong pasukan yang diminati.

Alhamdulillah... All praise to Allah~~ After a few days of excruciating and restless days and nights.. Doing reversion, analysing the topics that we have learnt, trying to answer the so called predicted questions and staying up reading and memorizing notes~~ We Cohort 4 B.Ed TESL IPG-KBA Twinning Programme with AUS/NZ/UK have already finished with our final examination for the Degree that we sought after!!!! (panjang nyerrr LOL) Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Yeaaaaahhhh!!!

For me the two exam papers were really though to handle~~ Of course lahhh I'm a person who can't really do well in exam~~ although all the preparation needed are already been done ... Very early mind you about that~~ huhuh Oklah~~ what I hope is that all will be okay and no one will be calling me during my holiday for referral~~ huhu AMIIIINNNN~~

p/s: BTW this doesn't mean that I am done for the year.. still have practical in June till October~~

Apabila wanita berkenaan meninggalkan bilik dan responden hanya tinggal bersama lelaki asing itu, tahap tekanannya tidak meningkat.

Bagaimanapun, apabila responden hanya berdua dengan wanita asing itu, tahap kortisol mereka meningkat.

Penyelidik merumuskan: “Dalam kajian ini, kami menganggap, bagi kebanyakan lelaki, kehadiran wanita jelita mungkin mencetuskan persepsi bahawa terdapat peluang untuk berkenalan.

“Walaupun sebahagian lelaki mungkin mengelak menemui wanita jelita kerana beranggapan mereka tidak setaraf, majoriti akan berasa bimbang serentak dengan tindak balas hormon.

Kerana Tugasan Terakhir dan Peperiksaan

:: Me Last Assignment for My Degree ::

My academic spectrum is nearing to its END!!!!!

Ini untuk degree @ Ijazah pertama aku lah... Herm.. semalam aku sudah hantar tugasan terakhir aku - "ES421 Linking Theory and Practice in the Language Classroom"... Belajar cara-cara nak mengajar dalam kelas Bahasa Inggeris...subjek yang menarik tapi tugasan-tugasan dia hiskkk penat lah nak siapkan.... Bila aku dah satukan semua bahan-bahan seperti refleksi aku... lampiran.. dan contoh-contoh bahan mengajar.. Aku tenung tugasan aku tu kat atas lantai... aku rasa sedih pula...

Yelah kan dah siap dah tugasan terakhir.. mesti rasa macam pelik.. Lepas ini tak tahu lah bila lagi dapat melalui proses meminjam dan berebut buku-buku di perpustakaan, baca buku yang bertimbun, buat draft (heheh nia paling jarang aku buat), tanya-tanya kawan macam mana nak menjawab, bersengkang mata manyiapkan tugas sampai lewat malam... hahahahaha Cara hidup seorang pelajar di institusi pengajian tinggi.. :D Kalau sambung belajar untuk Ijazah kedua @ master pun rasanya dah tak macam ini lagi dah.. semua buat sendiri-sendiri lepas nie.. mesti rasa sedih semacam...

Tapi, dalam tenung-tenung aku punya tugasan itu aku rasa puas... Tugasan terakhir ini aku buat yang terbaik (bagi aku lah) aku baca banyak kali aku edit.. aku tambah itu..tolak ini hahaha Harap-harap markah yang aku dapat nanti ok lah... Tak mengharap sangat pun sebab aku bukan pelajar cemerlang sangat pun.. biasa-biasa sahaja~~

Lepas ini hanya tinggal peperiksaan sahaja.. dua subjek... tapi dua-dua subjek yang membunuh dan aku tak tahu macam mana nak jawab sebenarnya... entah laaaaaaaaaahhhh ahai... Doakan aku dapat jawab dengan baik ye... dan lulus dengan markah yang agak okay.. takut sangat sebenarnya.. sebab aku tengah baca-baca untuk peperiksaan tue.. tapi aku kurang paham apa yang aku baca.. tua lah masa kuliah aku tak ambil pusing sangat apa yang pensyarah cakap!!! huhuhu salah sendiri lah ni... Ya Allah semoga aku dapat kepintaran seperti para nabi dan rasul.. permudahkan urusan aku ya Allah~~

Ok lah kepada kawan-kawan Cohort 4, B.Ed TESL IPG KBA... Buat yang terbaik utuk peperiksaan nanti dan kepada kawan-kawan yang membaca entri kali ini (ada orang ke yang follow aku punya blog? heheh).. Doakan lah saya dapat menjawab peperiksaan dengan baik... takut..takut..takut...

TEAM TERBAEK

This is my Team (so called my lah kan)... Just a few of my bestiest and homies... All of them are very eager and putting 110% of their effort in the league. They even spent a few nights searching for jerseys in down-town areas around KL... Find sponsors to be printed on the shirt... Even one of my friend sponsored the team.. Huhuhh on some degree I am impressed with their determination to participate in the IPBA Futsal League.... But it is kinda disheartening that I just can be the spectators and watch at the side... LOL

UHHHH what ever it is guys.. all the best eh.. for all the matches...

Hisk when I think about it lah kan kita semua (baca: budak-budak yangg lahir dalam era tahun 80an) semua dah besar panjang dah .. bagi orang-orang yang seangkatan dengan aku ramai dah yang kerja, kahwin dan beranak pinak.(baca: lepak-lepak dengan Iqbal, Pa'an, Syak dan Noridah baru lah aku tahu kawan-kawan sekolah mana dah kahwin ada anak dan yang kahwin dengan Mat Salleh sekarang duduk kat Liverpool UK yooo!!) ... huuhu Kadang-kadang terasa amat janggal dan pelik.. yelah selama ni asyik berperangai macam kanak-kanak sahaja.. tahun depan dah masuk "manhood" sikit kot.. sebabnya dah masuk dalam alam pekerjaan... waaaaa... That is THE MOST scariest part in one's life I think (read: ok this sentence is grammatically wrong do not use superlative with MOST ok murid-murid)...

Tapi rasanya sejak 2-3 tahun lepas pun dah kena sesi suai kenal dengan alam pekerjaan ni... walau pun hanya kerja sebagai tukang cuci jamban mat salleh kat hospital, kerja susun surat-surat yang macam Gunung Everest masa krismas dan duduk-duduk sahaja (baca: sambil melayari internet maha laju) ketika menjaga pusat komputer kolej.. tapi bagi aku pengenalan kepada alam pekerjaan yang teramat-amatlah berharga.... barulah kenal penat lelahnya nak mencari duit tu... dan barulah aku hargai semua sen-sen yang aku ada.. Seriously, I think through working for my own "moolah" have taught me a lot of lessons...on how to save and plan my own expenses. Mak mintak maaf lah banyak-banyak sebab selama ini asyik perabih duit mak jek huhuhuh

Next, lately... lots of my friends got married (Baca: Alhamdulillah). Rasa macam seronok sahaja dengar mereka dah kahwin... ahahhaha jeles kah? Adalah sikit-sikit..tapi aku sentiasa fikir sasaran aku dalam hidup ini.. aku dah plan semua benda dan kahwin tue bukanlan benda yang aku amat utamakan dalam masa terdekat ini. Banyak lagi benda aku nak capai dalam hidup ini sebelum aku berkeluarga... huh Dulu adalah aku bercinta (baca: Jangan terkejut!! Aku pon manusia.. perlu kasih-sayang wakakaka) tapi tak lama sebab aku rasa serabut and being in a relationship just make me feel that I'm straying away from my goals...

Lastly, when I look at my older siblings who were born in the 80s, I see all of them have already grown up (Read: I am the last 80s child in the family)....Dah dua orang kahwin.. seorang dah ada anak.. dan semua dah kerja.. Bila raya pun susah sekarang nak berkumpul semua macam dulu.. Yelah akak-akak yang dah kahwin ada suami dan keluarga sendiri yang perlu diutamakan. Kadang-kadang rasa sedih pun ada jugalah sebab kami adik-beradik dah susah nak berjumpa macam dulu.... Sekarang kena main telefon-telefonlah bertanya khabar. Tapi bila dapat berkumpul sama-sama manis dia rasa lain.. kalau dulu asyik nak bertekak..bercakar.. tapi kalo dapat je kumpul rasa sayang yang teramat-amat sangat... setiap saat bersama sangat-sangat dihargai.. Mula lah berbual-bual tanya khabar bertukar cerita.. paling "best" kalau diaorang cerita pasal rumah tangga dan laki diaorang.. kelakar pun ada juga...

Apa-apa pun proses membesar ni takkan terlepas dari sesiapa pun.. semua orang akan mengalaminya... Hidup kita bukan macam dalam cerita "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".. itu semua fiksyen berlaka (baca: atau propaganda yahudi? wakakakak)... Apa yang penting dalam melalui proses membesar ini aku pasti setiap tahap yang kita lalui perlu ada proses refleksi kendiri.. melakukan penambah baikan...baru lah bermakna hidup betul tak? ahahah ok lah aku merepek sahaja dalam entri kali ini... LOL

p/s: Entri ini aku tulis lepas majlis perkahwinan akak sulung aku.. tengok adik-beradik.. gosip-gosip dengan kawan sekolah yang aku jumpe masa majlis akak.. hisk itu yang buat aku terpikir pasal benda ini heheheh

Assalamualaikum... this weekend is my sister's wedding~~ and again I'll be the "WALI"... haih.. feeling nervous ah... I really don't like the process of giving away my sister to his husband... just like last time with Ayie.. it is a hard thing to do.... Meet the "kadi", say to him that I give "permission" for my sister to wed the guy, signing up various papers etc..etc.. huh the pressure is there guys.. trust me.. but wait until you have someone to give away... as for me I might get use to it after this... another 6 sisters to go and by the time I have my own daughter I might say it is soooo normal...or it might be a totally different experience? heheh what ever it is.. I would like to wish my sister Suhana Binti Abd Wahid...

Kejohonan Olahraga Tahunan IPG-KBA 2010

Yesterday was our institute sports day... it also means that it is my last KOT in IPBA... Ahhh it just bring back old memories when I was still a young man..just enrolled in here... very upbeat and eager to participate.. hehehe.. Now.. it is not that I'm old.. it is just that I'm not interested.. So I just went on the final day.. seeing how it is been conduct...the lectures and students enjoying themselves... Congrats to all who have made this year KOT a success.... and congrats to Green House who became the overall champions defeating Yellow House~~~

p/s: herm...lots of memories in this college.. and I just have a few months left... this will be sad..

Manusia paling dekat dengan Allah ketika sujud solat

DARIPADA Anas, katanya Rasulullah SAW bersabda yang bermaksud: "Sempurnakanlah sujud mu! Jangan membentangkan dua siku seperti anjing (tidur)."

Sujud ialah meletakkan kepala di bumi. Ketika sujud, fikiran berada lebih rendah daripada hati. Ulama mengatakan bahawa sujud ketika solat adalah waktu manusia paling hampir dengan Allah SWT.

Sebenarnya ketika seseorang manusia itu mengerjakan solat, berpuluh-puluh iblis akan datang menggoda. Sesetengahnya datang pada setiap anggota badan supaya datang perasaan malas, was-was, terlupa bilangan rakaat, bimbang pada pekerjaan dunia yang ditinggalkannya, sentiasa hendak cepat, hilang khusyuk dengan mata sentiasa menjeling ke kiri ke kanan, telinga sentiasa mendengar orang bercakap serta bunyi-bunyian lain.

Malah ada juga iblis yang duduk di belakang badan orang yang solat itu supaya ia tidak dapat sujud lama kerana penat atau sebagainya. Ketika sujud kita digalakkan bertafakur beberapa ketika. Dari segi kesihatan, bersujud boleh mengelak penyakit pening atau migrain.

Ini terbukti oleh saintis yang membuat kajian kenapa dalam sehari kita perlu bersujud. Ahli sains menemui bahawa ada beberapa milimeter ruang udara dalam saluran darah di kepala yang tidak dipenuhi darah. Dengan bersujud maka darah akan mengalir ke ruang berkenaan.

Dalam solat, cara sujud mestilah mengikut kaedah paling sempurna iaitu turun ke bawah dengan tangan, meletakkan ia ke bawah sebelum lutut. Kita dilarang meniru cara unta duduk iaitu cara duduk dengan lutut dulu.

Hendaklah jadikan tapak tangan sama aras dengan kedua bahu. Tidak meletakkan (melebarkan) lengan di tanah seperti anjing. Meletakkan hidung dan dahi di atas bumi. Begitu juga dengan lutut. serta perut jari kaki.

Menegakkan kaki dengan tumit berdiri tegak selari. Semua anggota disebutkan tadi dipanggil sebagai anggota sujud yang menentukan sempurna atau tidaknya sujud seseorang sedang solat iaitu seperti mana diperintahkan Rasulullah SAW.

Assalamualaikum and hi to all,

Hey I'm back hehe currently in IPBA heheh or now known as IPG KBA huh long name... Btw it is nearly 1 month (20 days to be exact) since I came back from UK. There is only one word to describe it..... AWESOME!!!! ahhahah Yes it has been 20 days full of awesomeness minus the first 4 days because I have a fever huhuhuh~~ Meeting old friends.. catching up with each others.. see how my environments changed in two years (there are lots of changes man... I just need to keep up with every things)...

However, many unwanted things also happened and I just hope that it will subdue and things can be back to normal. Herm.. I think i don't want to ramble a lot of stuff in here.. just want to make a start for this year hehhe ok readers till we meet another time (hopefully it going to be soon) Ja~~ Naaa :D

3M @ 3R (Reading, Writing, Arithmetic) Issue in Malaysian Primary Education

Bicara Akademia: Penguasaan 3M

PENGAJARAN menerusi lagu atau alat muzik sesuai untuk murid Orang Asli.

Laksana pelbagai kaedah P&P ikut kategori murid

IKUTI pandangan Dekan Fakulti Pendidikan, Universiti Malaya, Prof Dr Saedah Siraj, mengenai keperluan kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran berbeza bagi mengatasi masalah penguasaan kemahiran asas membaca, menulis dan mengira (3M) di kalangan murid sekolah seperti disampaikan kepada wartawan pendidikan Berita Harian, Khairina Yasin.

KEGAGALAN atau ketidakupayaan sebahagian murid sekolah rendah menguasai kemahiran asas 3M adalah antara cabaran getir dunia pendidikan hari ini.

Biarpun sukar mengenal pasti angka sebenar murid dikategorikan bermasalah itu setakat ini, ramai pakar pendidikan bimbang implikasinya yang mungkin boleh menyebabkan mereka hilang minat ke sekolah.

Jika kelemahan murid menguasai 3M ini tidak diatasi sejak Tahun Satu, masalah itu akan berlarutan apabila mereka memasuki Tahun Dua dan seterusnya.

Di manakah silap atau apakah kekurangannya? Dalam memperbetulkan keadaan, tidak dinafikan banyak usaha dilaksanakan Kementerian Pelajaran bagi menangani masalah penguasaan 3M ini di kalangan murid.

KAEDAH P&P berbeza perlu meningkatkan penguasaan 3M di kalangan murid.

Antaranya mengadakan kelas pemulihan, kelas khas untuk kanak-kanak istimewa, latihan guru berpendidikan khas, perluasan kempen membaca dan penempatan kaunselor di setiap sekolah.

Namun, keberkesanan pelaksanaannya tidak menyeluruh dan belum mampu memberi perubahan besar terhadap perkembangan penguasaan kemahiran 3M di kalangan murid terbabit.

Dalam sesetengah keadaan, kurangnya komitmen pengurusan sekolah antara penyebab pendidikan murid tergolong dalam kategori ini, gagal mencapai matlamatnya.

Menyisihkan murid terbabit daripada mengikuti pendidikan seperti rakan lain hanya akan menyulitkan langkah mengatasi masalah mereka kemudian hari.

Ada juga yang menegaskan kepentingan peranan ibu bapa dalam membantu anak menguasai kemahiran asas berkenaan, namun ia tetap tidak membebaskan guru daripada membantu murid yang lemah itu.

Berdasarkan kajian sebelum ini, keperluan langkah penyaringan dan pengesanan awal murid yang belum menguasai 3M penting bagi mengenal pasti pelaksanaan program pemulihan bersesuaian dengan mereka.

Langkah awal itu membolehkan murid dikelompokkan berdasarkan punca sebenar kelemahan mereka menguasai 3M sama ada akibat persekitaran, pemakanan atau kesihatan.

Pemerhatian mendapati murid lemah 3M boleh dikelompokkan lima kategori, iaitu anak Orang Asli, kanak-kanak istimewa atau pendidikan khas, murid menghadapi masalah psikologi, kanak-kanak terbiar dan mereka yang sememangnya berketurunan tidak boleh membaca atau dungu.

Setiap kelompok murid terbabit memerlukan kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran (P&P) berbeza bagi memastikan kelemahan pembelajaran mereka dapat diatasi secara berperingkat.

Pencarian kaedah P&P mengikut kelompok perlu ditekankan Kementerian Pelajaran kerana jika dilaksanakan secara tunggal, ia tidak boleh diguna atau diaplikasikan kepada semua murid yang gagal menguasai 3M.

Keadaan ini wajar dikaji semula di peringkat akar umbi dengan merujuk faktor mempengaruhi masalah penguasaan 3M dalam setiap kelompok murid terbabit sebelum menentukan kaedah P&P yang tepat dan bersesuaian.

Dalam kes anak Orang Asli contohnya, kesukaran memberi fokus kepada apa yang diajar menyebabkan mereka gagal menguasai 3M.

Hubungan antara pemikiran dengan pergerakan mata agak lambat berikutan wujudnya gangguan yang menjejaskan fokus mereka terhadap pembelajaran.

Bagi menanganinya, penggunaan alat muzik dalam proses P&P disifatkan antara kaedah sesuai untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kemahiran asas itu di kalangan anak Orang Asli.

Ini kerana mereka amat peka terhadap deria pendengaran. Oleh itu, alat muzik adalah perantara sesuai diguna pakai guru bagi menarik tumpuan kelompok murid masyarakat minoriti itu terhadap pengajaran guru.

Malah, banyak kajian luar negara membuktikan penggunaan alat muzik mengikut etnik atau budaya berjaya membangunkan kemahiran 3M di kalangan murid sekolah.

Bagi kes murid istimewa atau pendidikan khas, kepekaan ibu bapa terhadap proses pengembangan anak dituntut bagi membolehkan kelemahan mereka dikesan sejak awal.

Murid disleksia antara kelompok murid yang gagal menguasai 3M, namun disebabkan pengetahuan ibu bapa yang rendah mengenai penyakit itu menyebabkan masalah berkenaan tidak dipandang serius.

Malah, ramai ibu bapa termasuk golongan profesional cuba menafikan anak mereka berdepan masalah berkenaan hingga merasakan tidak perlu dibantu.

Murid disleksia melihat sesuatu dengan pandangan yang berbeza terutama berkaitan pembelajaran. Sebagai contoh, mereka tidak dapat diajar abjad dengan cepat kerana ada huruf yang akan ditinggalkan disebabkan pemikiran tidak dapat 'membaca' huruf berkenaan.

Dalam usaha menangani masalah ini, kaedah P&P haruslah lebih khusus dan perlu dipraktikkan guru yang mahir mengenainya.

Selain guru dan murid, keberkesanan program pemulihan ini memerlukan kerjasama dan penggemblengan tenaga semua pihak, termasuk sekolah dan ibu bapa.

Apa yang penting, pelaksanaan tindakan progresif menangani masalah penguasaan 3M di kalangan murid ini sepatutnya sejak awal lagi, bukan pada peringkat mereka sudah terlalu jauh tercicir.

My Dissertation My Baby~~

- Offer of netbook package, including free broadband service, to university students for RM50 per month for 2 years.

* Govt to clamp down on the abuses committed by Ah Longs by enforcing Anti-Money Laundering and Anti Terrorism Financing Act 2001. Moneylenders Act 1951 to be also reviewed.

* Allow 100% foreign equity participation in corporate finance and financial planning companies compared with the present requirement of at least 30% local shareholding.

* To ensure rapid development of financial services, the existing tax incentives to be extended to 2015.

* Among steps to combat corruption is to set up 14 Special Corruption Sessions Courts and 4 Special Corruption Appeal High Courts.

* Tax of 5% to be imposed on gains from the disposal of real property from Jan 1, 2010. Existing tax exemption will be retained for gifts between parent-child, husband-wife, grandparent-grandchild.

* To promote prudent spending, a service charge of RM50 a year to be imposed on each principal credit card and charge card; and RM25 a year on each supplementary card, effective from Jan 1, 2010.

* To ensure that fuel subsidies only benefit targeted groups, Govt will implement a fuel subsidy management system in early 2010, which will utilise the MyKad.

* All ministries and govt departments are required to provide day care and education centres for children of civil servants.

* The maximum income tax rate for individuals to be reduced to 26% from assessment year 2010. Personal relief increased to RM9,000.

* Police force to get RM1bil to improve its services in govt's efforts to reduce crime. Major measures include to increase police presence, including mobile police stations in 50 crime hotspots.

* To promote house ownership, Govt will launch a scheme that enables EPF contributors to utilise current and future savings in Account 2.

* Employees' EPF contribution to be increased to 11% again, on a voluntary basis, effective immediately. However, from Jan 1, 2011 employees' EPF contribution will revert to 11%.

* Personal relief for EPF and life insurance schemes to be increased to RM7,000.

YEAH!!!! WATCHED TRANSFORMER YESTERDAY!!! IT was SOOOO DAMN GREAT!!! 6.35 pound is really worth it. Ok for those who's wondering how come I have watched it, here is the explanation... UK was the world second premier (just a day later after NZ). All the thumbs-up for Michael Bay for such a great masterpiece. For me this movie have everything.. action, sadness, humor, conflict, love, lust, war, torn you name it!!! The story line was not that fast but still it keep you on your seat, making you want to ask for more and when it end you wouldn't realise that you have spent a full 2 and a half hour of your life marvelling at it. The fued between the Autobots and Decepticons were raised to the next level. New Autobots and Decepticons add lots of flovour to the story. For those who love military stuff you will get a few glimpses of the army thingy (sorry guys I'm not really an expert on military toys). 5 stars I would say for a such great movie; an epic in filem industry. No more rambling and no more things to be said. Because I don't want to be a spoiler. For those who wanted to go to the cinema... I would like to give you an advice, ditch all the other movies out there and buy yourself a ticket to TRANSFORMER 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN. It's worth all the money that you spend on it.

p/s: I AM totally going to watch this movie again and again just like I did with the first Transformer movie. So anyone wants to go and watch it. Just give me a ring. Ja~Naa. ay

Patutkah bahasa Inggeris dijadikan mata pelajaran wajib?

KUALA LUMPUR: Sasterawan ulung Inggeris, William Shakespeare pernah berkata: 'to be or not to be, that is the question'.

Petikan pujangga itu bermain di fikiran apabila merujuk kepada sama ada bahasa Inggeris patut dijadikan mata pelajaran wajib untuk lulus peperiksaan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

Timbalan Perdana Menteri yang juga Menteri Pelajaran, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin melontarkan persoalan itu untuk dibincangkan oleh orang ramai dan bagi kerajaan mendapatkan maklum balas.

Katanya beliau dimaklumkan bahawa ramai pelajar di luar bandar akan gagal SPM jika bahasa Inggeris dijadikan mata pelajaran wajib untuk lulus.

"Dengan itu, saya tidak fikir ia (tidak menjadikan mata pelajaran bahasa Inggeris sebagai mata pelajaran wajib untuk lulus) memenuhi tujuan kerana bahasa Inggeris adalah bahasa yang amat penting yang kita gunakan dalam kehidupan seharian kita," katanya semasa merasmikan penubuhan Persatuan Alumni Maktab Kirby yang baru di sini hari ini.

Beliau berkata untuk meningkatkan kualiti kemahiran dan penguasaan bahasa Inggeris di kalangan pelajar, pengajaran mata pelajaran bahasa Inggeris perlu dilakukan oleh guru berkelayakan.

"Mungkin idea yang baik ialah mencontohi konsep Maktab Kirby, (iaitu) menghantar guru belajar bahasa Inggeris di persekitaran yang bertutur dalam bahasa Inggeris," katanya.

Sementara itu, Muhyiddin berkata sumbangan guru lepasan Maktab Kirby adalah amat besar dan mereka telah berkhidmat dengan penuh dedikasi pada tahun 1950-an dan 1960-an iaitu ketika sekolah-sekolah masih daif dan kemudahan pelajaran masih kurang.

"Walaupun negara kita masih mundur dan tahap keselamatan agak membimbangkan pada ketika itu, kehadiran guru-guru Maktab Kirby yang terlatih dalam bilik-bilik darjah telah membawa pembaharuan kepada sistem pelajaran negara.

"Saya juga dimaklumkan bahawa Maktab Kirby yang (melahirkan guru) berbilang bangsa dan agama ini merupakan ''miniature Malaysia'' di mana semangat ''1Malaya'' dan ''Malaya Boleh'' mula disemai," katanya.

Beliau berkata guru lepasan Maktab Kirby juga menjadi kayu ukur kepada kecemerlangan profesion perguruan di negara ini, dan ini terbukti dengan pemilihan empat bekas pelajar Maktab Kirby sebagai Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan dari tahun 1988 hingga 1998 iaitu Harith Laiki, Idris Tain, Lau Hut Yee dan Dr Yahya Ibrahim.

Muhyiddin turut melancarkan buku "Kirby College-A Heritage" hasil tulisan Dr Shaari Isa serta merasmikan Pameran Maktab Kirby anjuran Muzium Pendidikan Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris.

Maktab Kirby merupakan satu eksperimen pendidikan yang unik dengan sebuah negara asing iaitu Malaya (kini Malaysia) dibenarkan membuka sebuah Maktab Latihan Guru di England pada 1951.

Maktab itu beroperasi selama sepuluh tahun iaitu dari 1952 hingga 1962 dan telah berjaya melahirkan lebih 1,500 guru pelatih dan 405 pelatih guru, dengan bantuan pakar daripada Institute of Education, University of Liverpool. - Bernama

Today is the last day I will be working as a Student IT Support (SITS) in the iVillage Marjon. Yup.. my contract now has ended. I will be missing all the time I spend over here. It has been a great experience for me. Handling computer and ICT stuff, learning new things, meeting new people, helping people who are having problem with ICT stuff... It has been a great pleasure for me.

:: My working station ::

Working as SITS is not hard at all. Most of the time I will just sit at my station and wait for people to ask for my help when they need it. Occasionally I have to refill the paper in the printers and that's all. I even have the time to do my assignments while working..which is great heheh That's why I love working over here. A part from the nature of the work itself which is very convenient for me, the prospect of the payment that I receive is also very appealing to me hehehe. For the demand of the work in compare with the payment, I would have to say it is easy money for me.

But I didn't work for the sake of the money [It is only part of it heheheeh]. Well for a foreign students, when you work in UK you will gain valuable experience that you will not trade with anything else. Meeting new people, making new friends and learn how people work in UK is just a part of it.

Herm totally going to miss working over here, but hey.. it is good timing also as I'll be busy focusing on my dissertation after this.

Today is the last day for Sarah Fuqua our International Student Welfare Coordinator in INTED. She will be working in the City College in the Plymouth, City Centre after this which is not that far.. we still can see each other I think :D.. Sorry for the date on the picture.. the actual date was 29/05/2009~~ Just after our Micheal Hall class..

So we (Cohort 4) held a small Farewell Party for Sarah our beloved "Mother" over here. Sarah delivered a small speech. She told us that while she was staying in US she went for palm reading and the she was told that she will have lots of children. Although she didn't have children she realised that working in INTED she feel that all of us were her child. We bring some food and sang a few songs for her. She cried when we sang her "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing by Aerosmith.

She been working very hard in taking care of us since we arrived here last year. I still remember she is the one who I keep on emailing before my daparture asking about UK and accamodation in Marjon... she is also the one who was waiting for us at the Heatrow airport when we landed (with other Cohort 3 of course).

To name all the things that she did for us it will be a long entry.... besides... I can't name it all hahahah.. One thing I would like to say...

THANK YOU SARAH FOR EVERY THING THAT YOU DID FOR US &

It is 16th May today (well in Malaysia not now in UK)... so it means that today is Teacher's Day. Boy I just realised that a lot of celebration happens in the Month of May... Teacher's day.. Mother's day.. you name it (actually I have ran out of idea heheheh). The point is, actually we do not need a specific date or day to celebrate and show our gratitude to all the people who really give a big influence in our lives. Loving and caring your mother, teachers, father etc.. is much more than just saying I Love You or Thank You. It is shown in our daily action. But as people already created a specific day to celebrate Teacher's Day why don't we just jump into the wagon right? hehehhehe. To all teachers, ex-teachers and future teachers especially in Malaysia (and of course around the world...) I would like to wish all of you HAPPY TEACHER'S DAY.

Browsing my favourite website this morning and there this funny entry. It is about a 4 years old boy who dialled 911 to ask for help. Rather than asking for help because of an emergency, he dailled 911 because he is having some difficulty with his Math work. Apart from that it is because of his mother, who might tell him that if he have problem with his Math work to call for help... but the boy interpreted "help" as dialling 911. Down here is the recording of the 911 call.

Operator: 911 emergencies.
Boy: Yeah I need some help.
Operator: What’s the matter?

Today is the second Sunday in the month of May, meaning that today is Mother's Day. So I called my mother and wish her Happy Mother's Day. Well, my sisters back at home already made loads of plan. They went out for lunch and went sight seeing around Pontian. Which is good, because I know my mum seldom pamper herself. She been devoting herself to the family for a long time. Especially since my father passed away.

Being a single parent is never easy. But thanks to Allah SWT we, as the whole family, managed to overcome all the problems together. I am glad and thankful for the care and love that my mother have shower me with. And I know that we can't make it without my mum, who is a strong women. Without her I don't know what will happen to me. I have to say my mum is the pillar that endorse me to be who I am now.

Less Exam-Oriented Education Under UPSR Curriculum.

KUALA LUMPUR: Thirty per cent of the Primary School Assessment Test (UPSR) will account for a child’s results when a new curriculum is introduced for Year One pupils from next year.

The remaining 70% will be based on several approaches, including psychometric tests, school-based assessments and achievements in extra-curricular activities and sports throughout the six years of study.

“By the time the pupils sit for the UPSR in 2016, they would have been assessed from Year One in these other areas which will make up 70% of their marks with 30% from the (UPSR) examination itself,” Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said.

He said that Year One pupils in 50 schools nationwide had been using the new curriculum under a pilot project last year. It was extended to 500 schools this year.

“The pilot project is ongoing at the moment. A final decision will be made by the end of the year to determine the weightage of the UPSR marks,” he told reporters after representing Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the Kuala Kumpur International Book Fair at the Putra World Trade Centre yesterday.

Dr Wee said feedback from the pilot project had been positive and the ministry would consider other views before making the final decision on the weightage.

“We have to introduce this new curriculum at Year One as we can’t start from the middle,” he said. At present, 100% of pupils’ assessment in Year Six comes from the UPSR.

Former education minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein had said that the new curriculum would replace the existing primary school integrated curriculum first introduced in 1983 and reviewed in 2000.

Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said the new curriculum would not test pupils only on what they have learnt in a centralised examination.

“Parents have complained that the system is too examination-oriented so we are trying to make it more holistic and fun for pupils,” he said, adding that school-based assessments should not be a burden for teachers as they were already assessing their pupils through weekly and monthly tests as well as mid and year-end examinations.

By doing this, Alimuddin said that if pupils fell ill during the exam and did badly, the ministry could still take into account their overall school assessment rather than depend solely on their UPSR results.

“If the pupils still get A in their UPSR, this means the marks are not derived solely from their brains but having taken into account other approaches such as attitudes, extra-curricular activities and school-based assessments,” he said.

As for the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, he said there were proposed weightages of 50% and 70% respectively.

p/s: This might be late, but I have been keeping this article on bookmark. Just want to share it with those who might be interested. What I have to say is just that it is great to know we, Malaysian have move on a bit from exam-oriented spectrume. I know that the government is ready ( I hope so hehehhe), the only question is, are the parents ready? In general, our society still consider that examination result is the only things that will determine of our chidren future. I have to say that I am not totally into to this idea, because of many reasons. But then I am not opposing it as exam result do contribute to what I am now. Herm better stop babbling, overall I think overcoming exam-oriented phenomena in primary schools is a wise decision.

Yesterday was kind like a tiring day for me. Class from 9 am till 4 pm (with breaks of course) and then I have to go to work as cleaner...very tiring. But I was happy. I just realise that in this world not all those big and glorius things that make you happy.. but actually, the smallest things in the world can put a smile on you face. Yes it is true, I was walking to work. Dragging both my feet, I push myself to work. As I walk in the nature reserve I saw two bunnies happly hopping around and it did made me smile....

Assalamualaikum and Hola to all....

After two weeks of Easter Holidays... We Marjonian Cohort 4 are now busy with classes. Now, this term we kick-start with a full class. Although currently we have only two subjects, life is a little bit busy due to School Experience placement. For 5 weeks we will be having two days a week school experience. I bet this time it also going to be great just like last year. Last time, for the school placement I was grouped with Nabilah, KB and Mira and I was paired with Mira in one classroom. This year I was paired with Zati only. I like going to England primary schools and have a look on the school and the education system over here. But I still think Malaysian schools are not that far from schools over here. Reasons? This entry is not about that. Maybe another time.

I'm looking forwards to Steve's class. Learning about challenging circumstances in teaching English. Herm... Hope that through this subject I can be prepared for my future teaching profession. Furthermore, Steve himself is a great lecturer. He has a knack in making a lesson interesting and fun. Micheal Hall's subject Comparative Education is rather technical for me. It is hard for me to understand it and I myself have to understand not only Malaysian education but also England and a few other countries education system. The assignment itself is a little bit difficult I think. But hey learning about other countries education system will be fun (I hope!).

Home-Made Pandan Kaya.

One of my favourite breakfast during my hostel years in secondary school is bread with butter and Kaya. For a few months I have been craving for it. Want to buy kaya from the Continental Shop but it seems that they ran out of stock. So I decided to make my own home-made kaya. Although it doesn't have the motherly taste but I have to say IT taste like a KAYA. Feel free to try to make your own and save some money from buying it from the shop.

Home-Made Pandan Kaya.

Ingredients:

Part A.
3 - 4 chicken eggs depending on the size.
300 ml of coconut milk.
240 gm of sugar.
A few drop of Pandan paste (if you want a caramel Kaya chuck this one out).

Part B. (The Caramel)
100 gm sugar.
150 ml or 2/3 cup of hot water.

Methods:

Combine all the ingredients in Part A together in a bowl and whisk thoroughly until all the sugar dissolve. Then sieve it into a pot.
Then make the caramel. Put the sugar in a small pot and dissolve it on a small fire without the water first. When it turn into a brownish liquid add the hot water and keep on mixing it. Then switch of the fire.
Combine Part A and B together and whisk both ingredient on small fire. Keep whisking until the Kaya thicken.

p/s: If you having problem to thicken the Kaya just add a little of corn-flour mixed with cold water. That what I did hehehehe

This might be a little bit late but hey I just came back from my holiday and get a grip of the internet just today, trying to catch up with all the things that happened a few days back in Malaysia. I did managed to get a few infos about my beloved country and what's going on over there. So now we have a new cabinet with our 6th Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak and his new Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (which is bound to happen). Reading the new list of cabinet members I can see that there are few new faces and old ones, and there are few old members who were assigned new portfolio. As a person who is not very keen and knowledgeable about our political scenery I will not comment much on Dato' Seri Najib's battlefront in leading the country, but what caught my interest is our new Ministery of Education, our very own Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Now Malaysian education field have a new leader. He (Tan Sri Muhyiddin) preceded this portfolio from Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein. Congratulations and a big welcome I bid to Tan Sri Muhyiddin for obtaining this portfolio. As we know, Education is always an interest of the nation (and me personally), a lot of people will be looking on what he has to offer. I personally hope that with a new leader, Malaysian education scene will have positive changes and give more (if not just little bit) favour to the teacher. Education is one of the main source in changing our beloved country, thus a good leader is needed in making sure that Malaysian education system will be uphold to the utmost standard.

To Dato' Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, I would like to say thank you for all the works that he had done while holding the post for 5 years. Our education system underwent a lot of changes under his leadership make it good or bad (erm but mostly I can say good changes). I would also like to say good luck with your new portfolio.

Recipe 7 : Banana Cake.

I just realised that it has been long since I post anything related to recipe hehehhe... It is not because I have stop cooking, it is just that I don't have any interesting recipe to share . But today I think I want to share with all of you my dear reader a simple recipe that I took from the internet. Actually, I have myself few bananas that is not that fresh... at first I intended to make banana fritters but thinking that making banana fritters is too common and a little bit hassle, I made a Banana Cake instead. So for the last entry in this month of March, down here is the recipe. Why don't you try it?

Banana Cake.

Ingredients:

4 or 5 medium size bananas.
3 chicken eggs.
1 3/4 cups of self-raising flour.
1/4 cup of corn flour.
1 cup of sugar.
1 cup of cooking oil (preferably vegetable oil).
1 tea-spoon of soda bicarbonate.
A pinch of salt.

Methods:

Heat your oven first using a medium heat, 160 - 180 degrees.
Whisk the egg and sugar until it fluffy.
Then add the bananas that you have mashed and mix thoroughly.
After that add both flour and soda bicarbonate and mix again.
Next, add the salt and oil. Mix well.
Then, bake it for about 50 minutes to 1 hour. Don't forget to put some oil in the baking tin so that your cake wouldn't stick to it.

p.s:

I only use 3/4 cup of sugar because I want to get the sweetness of the bananas for my cake.
To get a soft and fluffy cake you must sieve a.k.a ayak both flour together with the bicarbonate soda.

Nescafe + Salt = The BEST Nescafe Ever.

Have you ever taste the best Nescafe? I think I have. I was reading a funny love story of a guy who drinks coffee with salt rather than sugar. Then it strucks in my mind, does it taste better with salt?. So out of curiosity, I try to make a coffee with salt. Ok not totally on salt lah.. if not high blood pressure after that. And I can't find pure coffee in our kitchen but hey there's Nescafe and I think that will do. The taste is different from the ordinary Nescafe sweetened by sugar only. Adding a pinch of salt make the aroma better and the taste of coffee emerge stronger on your pallet..owhhhh for someone who is not a coffeeholic this version of Nescafe is just like ...ermmm heaven??? (tooo much I think hehhehe) But still the taste is much better for me. Just to warn everyone, don't drink too much of this version of Nescafe, too much salt in your blood is bad for the health. You can try it once a while but not everytime you have your glass of caffein. Ok then Ja~naa :D

Siapa cakap jadi cikgu ni mudah? Orang yang cakap macam tu memang naif. Mereka ingat cikgu kerja 5 hari seminggu je ke? Bila cuti sekolah cikgu cuti juga? Tanggapan yang silap dan tidak benar sebenarnya. Tugas seorang guru melangkaui sesi pembelajaran biasa. Lebih-lebih lagi guru yang mengajar kelas peperiksaan. Kelas tambahan tak pernah lekang. Bagi guru yang mempunyai pengalaman mengajar sukan tentunya akan sibuk menjadi jurulatih kepada atlit-atlit sekolah. Berpanas di bawah teriknya mentari setiap kali melatih anak murid. Belum lagi dikisarkan tentang tugasan pejabat yang sentiasa bertali arus. Cabaran mengajar di kelas yang penuh dengan kerenah anak murid yang berbagai sentiasa menanti. Pernahkah kita terfikir bahawa guru dikehendaki melayan 30-40 orang sekali gus? Dan ketika cuti sekolah bukan masa untuk bersenang-lenang bagi guru-guru sekalian. Ada yang menanda kertas peperiksaan. Ada yang perlu menyediakan rancang persekolahan untuk tahun hadapan. Guru besar atau pengetua mempunyai kuasa untuk memanggil guru-guru hadir ke sekolah atas urusan sekolah bila-bila masa ketika cuti sekolah. Macam "on-call" sudah jadinya.

Kalau hanya bercakap tanpa asas dan bukti memang menarik entri kali ini. Tapi ini adalah sebenarnya realiti bidang ini. Saya tak akan bercakap tanpa asas. Pengalaman dan pemerhatian terhadap kakak-kakak saya yang seramai tiga orang menjadi guru di sekolah menengah mahupun sekolah rendah memberi gambaran yang amat jelas terhadap profession ini. Tak guna kalau saya memberi pandangan sendiri. Bacalah laporan dari tabloid di bawah dan mungkin anda akan paham.

Ramai guru sakit jiwa

Profesion perguruan terdedah kepada risiko tinggi untuk mengalami tekanan mental.

PESAKIT mental terpaksa berjumpa pakar psikiatri secara berkala.

BEBANAN kerja sebagai guru semakin kompleks kerana selain mengajar, mereka juga terpaksa menyediakan soalan-soalan peperiksaan dari semasa ke semasa, mengisi buku kedatangan, buku disiplin dan ringkasan mengajar, borang kesihatan dan rekod kemajuan murid, kelab dan persatuan, serta mengendalikan persiapan hari sukan.

Justeru, guru-guru dikatakan terdedah kepada risiko tinggi untuk mengalami tekanan sehingga boleh membawa kepada penyakit mental yang serius seperti bipolar, kebimbangan melampau dan kemurungan.

Kajian oleh Kesatuan Perkhidmatan Perguruan Kebangsaan (NUTP) mendapati 70 peratus daripada 9,000 guru di seluruh negara tertekan bukan sahaja kerana beban tugas tetapi juga terpaksa berdepan dengan kerenah pengetua, kerani, ibu bapa dan juga pelajar.

Bagi Noreha (bukan nama sebenar), selain terpaksa berdepan dengan masalah rumah tangga, dia turut tertekan dengan kerenah pengetua sekolah tempatnya bertugas.

Guru berusia 46 tahun itu yang ditemui di Wad Psikiatri, Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya (PPUM) berkata, dek kerana tekanan, dia sering diketepikan dalam pelbagai aktiviti sekolah.

"Sebelum ini saya memang sudah mengalami tekanan. Pengetua pula selalu mempertikaikan cuti yang saya pohon sedangkan surat daripada doktor disertakan.

"Bila kerja semakin bertambah, dicampur pula dengan tekanan daripada orang atas dan kerenah anak-anak, saya semakin runsing," katanya.

Noreha yang merupakan penanda kertas peperiksaan Matematik untuk peperiksaan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) dan Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) memberitahu, dia sebenarnya seronok menjadi guru.

"Saya memang suka mengajar, lebih-lebih lagi apabila murid banyak bertanya dan cemerlang dalam peperiksaan. Tetapi keadaan sekeliling seperti pengurusan sekolah dan rakan sejawatan banyak memberi tekanan.

"Ada juga yang faham keadaan saya, tetapi lebih ramai yang mengatakan saya gila. Mereka tidak faham mengapa saya perlu cuti untuk pergi berjumpa pakar psikiatri. Mereka juga anggap saya terlalu ikutkan perasaan," jelasnya.

HARAPAN yang tinggi terhadap keputusan peperiksaan pelajar turut memberi tekanan kepada golongan guru.

Noreha yang berasal dari Pulau Pinang tidak menafikan pihak sekolah ada memberi pelepasan kepadanya tetapi apa yang menyesakkan fikirannya ialah cutinya sering menjadi buah mulut orang.

Ada yang mendakwa Noreha sengaja menjadikan tekanan yang dialaminya sebagai alasan untuk bercuti.

"Secara fizikalnya saya memang sihat, tetapi dalaman saya berkecamuk. Saya bukan buat-buat sakit. Ikutkan hati, saya tak mahu masuk hospital dan tinggalkan keluarga dan kerjaya saya," katanya.

Ibu kepada dua orang anak ini juga memberitahu, dia cuba untuk mengawal perasaannya daripada terus tertekan, tetapi adakalanya semakin dia cuba untuk tenang, semakin agresif pula jadinya.

"Kadang-kadang saya tak rasa tertekan. Saya rasa sihat, tetapi orang sekeliling tak anggap begitu, mereka mula sorokkan pisau. Kebelakangan ini saya kerap dimasukkan ke wad berbanding dulu," katanya.

Kerja tujuh hari seminggu

Berbeza dengan Norehan, akibat terbeban dengan kerja sebagai guru JQAF, Zaimah Mishan, 42, pernah mengalami sakit jiwa.

Dia yang mengajar sekolah aliran agama tidak mampu untuk menanggung beban tersebut lebih-lebih lagi banyak masa dihabiskan di sekolah berbanding bersama keluarga.

"Saya pernah mengalami masalah jiwa iaitu kecelaruan bipolar sehingga saya tidak mampu mengajar. Enam bulan saya dirawat dan direhatkan.

"Ramai melihat guru JQAF tidak banyak kerja memandangkan mereka hanya mengajar agama tidak seperti sekolah aliran kebangsaan. Namun, mereka juga dibebani dengan komitmen luar," katanya.

NOR ZURAIDA

Zaimah yang pernah mengajar di beberapa buah sekolah berkata, ada pengurusan sekolah yang memahami tanggungjawab guru JQAF namun ada juga sekolah yang menyamakan guru JQAF seperti guru-guru lain.

"Semasa saya mengajar di sekolah A, saya pernah bekerja tujuh hari seminggu, dari pagi hinggalah petang sampaikan tiada masa untuk suami dan anak-anak.

"Hari Isnin hingga Jumaat, saya mengajar seperti biasa. Kadang-kadang saya diminta menggantikan guru lain mengajar subjek bukan aliran JQAF.

"Hari Sabtu pula, ada kegiatan kokurikulum yang mana semua guru terlibat dan hari Ahad pula saya selaku guru JQAF diwajibkan terlibat dalam Kem Bestari Solat," katanya.

Menurut Zaimah, beban terlalu berat yang tidak dipantau oleh pegawai yang sepatutnya itu ternyata memberi kesan kepada guru-guru JQAF.

"Kami terbeban, tersepit, letih, dan hampir kena mental block. Masa yang ada untuk berehat ialah waktu malam, itu pun kami terpaksa bawa pulang buku latihan murid-murid untuk ditanda.

"Itu tidak termasuk kursus atau kertas kerja yang perlu dibereskan untuk aktiviti gerak kerja," katanya.

Zaimah yang baru lima bulan mengajar semula selepas bercuti panjang menjelaskan, keadaan dirinya ketika 'sakit' dahulu bertambah teruk lebih-lebih lagi apabila suaminya berkahwin lain dan anak-anak enggan berjumpa dengannya.

"Bila saya tertekan dengan kerja, suami kata dia nak kahwin lain dengan alasan saya terlalu sibuk dengan kerja. Keadaan saya bertambah teruk waktu itu.

"Bila sakit saya datang, anak-anak tidak mahu dekat dengan saya. Hanya keluarga saya yang datang memberi sokongan untuk saya jalani terapi dan rawatan di hospital.

"Selepas bercuti lama, saya mengajar di sekolah lain. Alhamdulillah, selepas menjalani rawatan dan sesi kaunseling, saya sudah boleh mengawal tekanan di tempat kerja. Suami dan anak-anak pula sudah kembali pada saya," katanya.

Berisiko mendapat penyakit kritikal

MENURUT Pakar Perunding Kanan Psikiatri, Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya (PPUM), Prof. Nor Zuraida Zainal, setiap tahun dianggarkan 22,000 pesakit mendapatkan rawatan di klinik dan wad psikiatri hospital berkenaan. Kira-kira 10 peratus daripada mereka terdiri daripada golongan guru.

“Guru sekarang tidak seperti guru zaman dahulu. Guru sekarang terbeban kerana banyak tugasan baru yang perlu dilaksanakan selain mengajar.

“Di samping sibuk dengan aktiviti persatuan, panitia, kelab, rumah sukan, kursus dan gerak kerja luar sekolah, guru-guru juga perlu berdepan dengan tekanan lain.

“Mereka turut berhadapan dengan perangai pelajar dan kerenah ibu bapa serta pengetua yang sentiasa menaruh harapan tinggi untuk melahirkan pelajar cemerlang dalam peperiksaan,” katanya.

Ramai ibu bapa, tidak kira di bandar atau di luar bandar, masih menganggap bahawa sekolah dan pusat tuisyen ialah tempat untuk mendidik anak mereka dan menyerahkan tanggungjawab itu sepenuhnya kepada guru.

Apabila ada anak yang gagal, sesetengah ibu bapa terus menuding jari kepada guru sedangkan kejayaan para pelajar tidak hanya bergantung kepada pengajaran di sekolah.

Bercakap mengenai gejala tekanan yang sering dialami oleh pesakit-pesakitnya yang juga guru, Nor Zuraida memberitahu, kebanyakan mereka menghidap kecelaruan bipolar iaitu kewujudan pelbagai karakter yang berlawanan dengan keadaan guru terbabit sebelumnya. Ini diikuti kebimbangan melampau dan kemurungan.

“Mereka yang mengalami kecelaruan bipolar nampak sihat seperti biasa, malah pada tahap hipoaktif, mereka menjadi rajin dan produktif dalam melakukan sebarang kerja walaupun tidak mempunyai waktu rehat yang cukup.

“Tetapi kerja yang dilakukan tidak pernah habis dan ini yang mendatangkan sangsi kepada orang di sekeliling mereka,” katanya.

Tiga faktor utama yang menyebabkan tekanan ialah keturunan, faktor sekeliling seperti kerja dan jaringan sosial seperti keluarga, rakan-rakan dan masyarakat.

Sekiranya terdapat keturunan yang mempunyai masalah jiwa, risiko untuk guru mendapat tekanan menjadi lebih tinggi.

Malah, jelas Nor Zuraida, guru yang tertekan berisiko empat kali ganda lebih tinggi untuk mendapat penyakit kritikal seperti sakit jantung, darah tinggi, kencing manis dan buah pinggang.

“Tanda-tanda awal penyakit ini bermula dengan kemurungan. Guru akan mula hilang tumpuan mengajar, bosan, pendiam dan jika berlarutan mereka tidak mampu lagi untuk mengajar dan melakukan aktiviti harian.

“Sekiranya wujud keadaan-keadaan seperti ini, pihak pengurusan sekolah perlu memahami dan membantu guru berkenaan dengan mengurangkan waktu dan kelas mengajar serta memberi kelonggaran untuk menjalani terapi dan kaunseling,” jelas Nor Zuraida.

Terkejut? Ya saya pada mulanya memang terkejut tetapi setelah dianalisis dan difahami laporan di atas saya dengan rela hati bersetuju. Angka 10% daripada keseluruhan pesakit sakit jiwa di Malaysia adalah para guru amatlah memeranjatkan dan merungsingkan. Tetapi dengan beban tugas yang perlu digalas oleh guru-guru Malaysia masa kini angka tersebut adalah logik diterima akal. Mungkin kini anda lebih paham tugas seorang guru dan tidak memandang mudah tugas dan bebanan yang digalas oleh seorang guru. Mereka bukan sekadar mengajar, mereka adalah pendidik, jurulatih, kerani sekolah dan berbagai-bagai lagi.

Bagi mereka yang ingin menjuruskan diri dalam bidang keguruan. Entri kali ini bukanlah bertujuan untuk menjadi momokan bagi anda. Teruskan minat anda dalam bidang yang mulia ini. Ia hanya bertujuan untuk memberi gambaran sebenar profession ini di Malaysia. Diharapkan anda lebih bersedia untuk menjadi insan yang bergelar guru dimasa hadapan. While working in the iVillage today, there this three people who were sitting in-front of me. I just can't strain myself from ear-dropping into their conversation. Ok this is soooo not me.. the reason was they are just totally NEAR + IN-FRONT OF me.. plus they were talking loudly. Ok why do I need to justify myself? hehehhe ok... back to the topic. Actually the thing they were talking was interesting heheheh down here is just a reconstruction of their conversation...

Guy 1: What course are you taking?
Guy 2: Herm..bla bla bla bla * I can't remember what the courses are.
Guy 1: I did those in my second year.
Guy 2: Oh yeah? Did you? How old are?
Guy 1: 20. How bout you? *talking to the the girl
Girl : 20...
Guy 1 : You? *talking to Guy 2
Girl : This guy is a baby...>chuckle< heheh >hugging Guy 2< he is just 19... *tergedik-gedik geli plak... aku tgok.
Guy 1 : You're 19? >laughing< ahhahah
Guy 2 : Yeah... >laughing< hahahah

Ok looking at this three people I have to say they are more mature than their real age. I'm just surprised to know their real age... they don't look like 20 and 19 years old people more like 25 I think. They are big ( I mean not FAT big) and tall. If compared with me well huhu I look old and I AM old and I'm not that tall... This year i'm going to be 22 years old huhuh. Look at them they're young.. and I'm OLD arghhhhhhh!!!

After SPM: Make It OR Break It.

The 2008 SPM results are already out and I'm sure that right now most of the candidates are busy applying to further their study. After SPM is the point of your life where you have to think about the future (for us Malaysian). It is either you make it of break it. Sometimes it is kind of weird to think that our future is determine on how good is the result of our exam. But, there are still lots of people outside there who prove it is wrong to determine a future of someone base on their exam grades. But hey that is just how the world works.

Back to the topic. For those who got flying colours result for their SPM, applying to further their education in the courses that they really want seems like a breeze...or not? Each year the number of those who get straight As or GOOD result for SPM increase. This means that the competition for them to get their most sought after courses (like medicine, biology etc..etc....) is harder. For those who obtained ordinary result they have to think harder in order to apply. My sister is also part this people right now. She just got her result a few weeks before. She didn't get a straight As result but overall she did well.... Alhamdulillah.. I called home a few days back and ask her what she want to apply to further her study. She really didn't know what to apply but she does have a few courses in mind. So as someone who been in her shoes before I gave her a few word of advice that I myself use before. These are few advices that I gave to her.

Follow your dream - Life is about fulfilling your dream. I told her not to blindly select a course base on what people tell you to do. You are the one who should make your own life. I just hope that she will choose a course that she will not regret at the end and enjoy learning. Hey..education and learning is all about things that you enjoy right?
Be realistic - Yes we can dream as much as we want but we must be realistic. The real world is cruel and YES we can't be everything that we want. I told her that she must be realistic with what courses that she want to apply. Look back at her SPM result and choose courses that in-line with her SPM result.
Ask Mum's opinion - I know that my mum is someone who believes in the choice made by her children but asking the opinion from a mother will not hurt you. Although she might not know much of the current education situation but she is the one who have all the experiences. Furthermore, it is kind like "mengambil restu dan berkat".
Think about the future - I told her that nowadays to find a job is not easy and lots of graduated students still looking for job. I ask her try to look for a course where it have a demand for workforce. So that in the future it will be easy for her to find a job... InsyaAllah.

I know she will make the right choice. And I would like to share my simple advice to all of those who are looking forward to further their study. Good luck to all of you.

An advice to all students out there~~Think before you act.

Come on, it's just homework

BACK in secondary school, my friends and I were not really part of the "in" crowd. Our only pleasures were playing video games, gawking at pretty girls from a safe distance and reading comic books. We were failures at sports. We didn't have girlfriends. We were the losers, the nerds.

Students who are mature and hard working will form the foundation of society.

These students are the future of the country.

"Hey look at that girl! She's hot!" exclaimed one of my friends after school assembly one morning while wiping snot with his dirty handkerchief.

"Ask her out then," I replied, "you've been talking about her for weeks."

"Nah..." retorted my friend, ending our ridiculously weak excuse for a conversation with that one simple word. That was only the tip of the how-boring-life-at-school-could-be iceberg.

But it was not all bad. We had teachers who could make the day our best, or worst, depending on whether you'd done your homework.

My history teacher, let's call her Puan 'R', was a prime example. She could be terrifying, or she could be nice to her students. Usually by the end of each class, she would hand us raft of homework to be done by the next day. The only way to get out of it was to call in sick.

As for the completed assignments, some would get a pat on the back for a good job, or an earsplitting smack on the back if it wasn't.

But despite cowering in fear, none of us held a grudge against the teacher. It was our fault we were not studious, and her punishment was not maliciously intended.

Puan R's ability to bring out the best in her students made her one of the popular teachers in school.

So I was startled by a recent news report from Segamat.

A student is believed to have tried to burn his teacher's brand new car after she scolded him for not doing his homework. The teacher said she would never have thought that a student could do such a terrible thing.

"I'm not fierce with my students," she was quoted as saying.

The student could now be hauled to court on a criminal charge and be locked up for up to two years. A record that will follow him for life.

I'm no expert in psychology and (geek mode alert!) I can't offer sage advice like Yoda to his Padawans.

But here is my two cent worth to all pimply, angst-ridden students, just take things in your stride. Everyone has difficulties in life, be they prince or pauper.

Learn to be patient, anger is not the answer to problems. Being scolded over a simple thing is not a reason to commit a crime. Come on boys and girls, it's just homework.

Keputusan SPM, STAM 12 Mac Ini~

KUALA LUMPUR: Keputusan peperiksaan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) dan Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) 2008 akan diumumkan pada 12 Mac ini.

Ketua Pengarah Pelajaran, Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom, dalam kenyataan hari ini berkata calon yang menduduki kedua-dua peperiksaan itu boleh mendapatkan keputusan mereka di sekolah masing-masing bermula jam 10 pagi.

"Calon persendirian pula akan mendapat keputusan mereka melalui pos yang akan dihantar oleh Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri," katanya.

Alimuddin berkata, pengumuman analisis keputusan SPM dan STAM 2008 akan diadakan serentak pada 12 Mac jam 9 pagi di Putrajaya.

Seramai 442,936 orang calon telah mendaftar untuk menduduki peperiksaan SPM 2008 dan daripada jumlah itu 388,079 atau 87.6 peratus adalah calon sekolah Kementerian Pelajaran, 16,019 (3.6 peratus) calon sekolah kerajaan negeri dan tajaan badan-badan tertentu, 10,331 (2.3 peratus) calon sekolah swasta dan 28,507 (6.5 peratus) calon persendirian perseorangan, katanya. - Bernama

~ Of Thai Food and Slumdog Millionare...

Last Saturday (28 February), a few friends of mine and I went for a night out. We went to a Thai Restaurant for dinner... It has been long since I taste of authentic ASEAN food ahhaha :D Although I can cook some food but the taste of dining out is just heavenly pleasant...but it is much better when you don't have to pay anything for the food ahahaha.. Yes thanks to Hana and Zati for the treat. The restaurant was superb and the atmosphere was just great with the Thai songs played again and again... it just make you feel that you are really in Thailand !!! Ok then, no more yapping ...let the pictures do the talking...

Then we head ourselves to the VUE (it is like GSC back in Malaysia) to catch Slumdog Millionare. We walked there from the city and on the way we met this guy where Tiku and I worked together during our Royal Mail job last December. I was shocked at first because in out of no where suddenly someone say hi to us and shook my hand (mind that he was at that time eating fried chicken uhuhuhhh bau ayamlah tangan aku). Nevertheless, we managed to get ourselves safely in VUE. Ok at first we thought that we will be able to have a few round of bowling before watching Slumdog Millionaire at 11.20 pm but to our dismay it was full house and there isn't any free alley for us until 11.20 pm well just our luck. So we waited outside the screen entrance for nearly 2 hours... These girls are always up to something and they always know how to spend the time. So we played charades while waiting to go in... and took more pictures.

Hi there,

Where to start? Ok let me tell you what happened yesterday. Yesterday evening, we received a visit from two senior officers from Ministry of Education and Teacher Education Division, Malaysia and one from Malaysian Student Department, London. They came late honestly and we spend much of our time waiting *Dah lah I hate waiting for people...haih*. They were here to sign-up an MOU with Marjon regarding the new cycle of B.Ed TESL groups that will be coming over here this year. We were told that for the next cycle only two cohort will be learning overseas and the rest will continue their degree program in local universities. That is what the cabinet had decided. But I'm sure when the economic downturn end the government will continue this program with the next cycle. They also took some of their time to visit Marjon and have a talk with us Cohort 4 and 5.

Back to real story. During the talk, one of the officers looked at some of the boys (including me) and particularly interested with our long hair. So she start to talk about us not portraying the look of what a teacher should look like. I was dumbfounded when she talked about us having long hair and look not as "smart" as the newcomers. Yes I have realised it that my "shabbiness "are not suitable for the profession that I'll be persuing in the next few years (Just want to ask, do I look shabby?). But it doesn't mean that I will stay looking like this until the day I'm back in Malaysia.

I don't feel that I'm less than other if I look like what I'm now.

To tell the truth I just want to have a long hair. I know in Malaysia even if you not a teacher , having a long hair for a Malay guy is kind a out of the norm and people will look at you negatively. But the situation is different over here, I'm in UK and I just want to have a long hair, furthermore cutting hair over here is expensive. You have to pay £10.00 for just cutting your hair and that is worth of two meals. Yes I know the way that I try to justify myself seems a little bit childish. I know she is afraid that when I start my profession I will give a bad influence to the students. But afraid not Ma'am, I still remeber the ethic of being a teacher and it is my dream job, to touch the mind of our young generation so that they will be come someone useful in the future. Just for once, let me be someone that I want to be for a while over here. When I'm back in Malaysia, I promise that I will portray the "CITRA KEGURUAN" that the Ministry of Education sought after from their teachers...and that is a PROMISE.

1) Heaven by Brian Adams.

This original version by Bryan Adams is sooooo great... He is a Canadian rock singer-writer. Most of the songs he sing written by himself...and most of them are great..but I personally love this one.

2) Heaven by DJ Sammy and Yanou.

And this one is a cover version made by UK DJ Sammy and Yanou. There is a techno version of the song.. but I think the classical and slow music of this version is much better.

3) Shout by Lulu.

Another cover song sing by Lulu another Britain singer. This song is made popular by her in 1965.

4) Top of the World by The Carpenters.

I don't know why..just that I soooo in Love with this song~~

5) Halo by Beyonce.

I'm not really into Beyonce's songs but this one is just marvelous.

6) My Boy Lollipop by Millie Small.

I just love to hear the voice of Millie.. her voice is just unique to the ears...and the way people back then dance..is just funny to see :)

p/s: I know all the songs are kind of old . But it is still feel fres for me. I admit it that I'm not a person who keep track on what is the 'IN' thing all the time. Moreover, I just listen to songs that I like regardless which era it from.

Hello readers,

Kantoi or in English, caught red handed. That what happened to me a few days back. Huhuh to tell the truth, I'm a person who love to 'blog-hopping' from one blog to another. Last year, thanks to Marjon's 'high speed internet connection' I started this hobby. But one day, I found this interesting blog about a Malaysian English language lecturer's life. All of his entries were interesting for me. Some were sad, some were funny, some were just full of inspiration. So I guess I got hooked up with this blog. Almost everyday I will click on his blog waiting for it's owner to whip up interesting new entry.

It has been one year now since I become a silent reader of this blog. But as I have told you a few days back the unthinkable happened.. I'm officially kantoi-ed by the owner of the blog. He left a few comments on my blog. I was so surprised to read his comments.. How in the world did he manage to tracked me back? Guru didakwa meliwat, lakukan seks oral

KLANG: Seorang guru sekolah rendah dihadapkan ke Mahkamah Sesyen di sini terhadap dua pertuduhan meliwat dan melakukan seks oral terhadap seorang remaja lelaki berumur 14 tahun di sebuah rumah di Rantau Panjang di sini, Ogos tahun lalu.

Badrul Akmal Ishak, 30, mengaku tidak bersalah dan minta dibicarakan selepas kedua-dua pertuduhan dibacakan kepadanya oleh jurubahasa mahkamah.

Tertuduh didakwa sengaja melakukan persetubuhan di luar tabii dengan meliwat mangsa di rumah No: 53, Jalan Genting 5/KU4, Taman Kembara 2, Rantau Panjang, kira-kira jam 1 pagi pada 24 Ogos tahun lalu.

Dia didakwa mengikut Seksyen 377C Kanun Keseksaan yang membawa hukuman penjara minimum lima tahun dan maksimum 20 tahun dan sebatan, jika sabit kesalahan.

Badrul Akmal, yang ditangkap pada 29 Ogos tahun lalu juga didakwa sengaja melakukan persetubuhan di luar tabii iaitu dengan memasukkan zakar ke dalam mulut mangsa, kira-kira pukul 3 pagi di tempat dan hari yang sama.

Bagi kesalahan itu, dia didakwa mengikut Seksyen 377A Kanun Keseksaan yang membawa hukuman penjara maksimum 20 tahun dan sebatan, jika sabit kesalahan. - Bernama

Pengorbanan yang tak terhingga...yang tak mungkin kami adik-beradik semua mampu untuk membalas. Lebih mencabar lagi apabila mak kehilangan orang yang mak sayangi, ayah, dan mak terpaksa meneruskan kehidupan sebagai seorang ibu tunggal. Cabaran demi cabaran mak hadapi demi kebahagian anak-anak mak ini.

Today my sis YM~ed with me... sharing infos about family in Malaysia and everything... and one of the topic was about baby Khairah. She shared with me a few pictures of the baby. Alhamdulillah.. Khairah is in a good condition, she is pretty well with her Mum and Dad.. well I'm a little bit sad and jealous because she hasn't meet her uncle yet (Me of course huhu)... but I have sent a few stuff for her (the parents also).. Dua orang Islam minum arak didenda RM5,000, sebat 6 kali

KUANTAN 12 Jan. - Mahkamah Tinggi Syariah di sini hari ini menjatuhkan hukuman denda RM5,000 dan sebatan enam kali mengikut syariah ke atas seorang lelaki dan seorang wanita yang mengaku bersalah meminum arak.

Hakim Datuk Abdul Rahman Yunus menjatuhkan hukuman itu selepas kedua-dua tertuduh, Mohd. Nasir Mohamad @ Sulaiman, 38, dan Noorazah Baharuddin, 22, mengaku melakukan perbuatan yang dilarang oleh agama Islam itu.

Mohd. Nasir dituduh meminum arak jenama Tiger Beer di Fun Pub, Holliday Villa, Cherating, pada kira-kira pukul 11.37 malam, 11 Julai 2008. Dia telah berkeluarga dan mempunyai empat orang anak, bekerja dengan sebuah syarikat perkapalan di Kemaman, Terengganu.

Sementara Noorazah yang bekerja sebagai seorang pelayan di sini, dituduh meminum arak jenama Heineken di Black Forest Pub, Jalan Gambut dekat sini kira-kira jam 1.20 pagi pada 12 Julai 2008.

Kedua-dua tertuduh didakwa melakukan kesalahan di bawah Seksyen 136 Enakmen Pentadbiran Ugama Islam Dan Adat Resam Melayu Pahang 1982 dan dihukum di bawah Seksyen 4 Enakmen Pentadbiran Agama Islam Dan Adat Resam Melayu Pahang (Pindaan) 1987.

Enakmen tersebut turut memperuntukan hukuman penjara sehingga tiga tahun.

Pelaksanaan hukuman sebat dibuat mengikut Seksyen 125 Enakmen Tatacara Jenayah Syariah 2002.

Dalam penghakimannya, Hakim Abdul Rahman berkata, sungguhpun kedua-dua tertuduh tidak dikenakan hukuman penjara, namun jumlah denda yang tinggi dan sebatan yang dikenakan diharap dapat menginsafkan mereka mengenai kesalahan yang dilakukan.

Mengenai hukuman sebat pula, Hakim Abdul Rahman berkata, ia bertujuan bukan untuk menyeksa, tetapi hendak memberi pengajaran dan perasaan malu kepada diri tertuduh.

Pendakwaan dikendalikan oleh Timbalan Pendakwa Syarie Pahang, Saiful Idham Sahimi.

p/s: enough said~ I just hope that this people will realise their mistakes and IF only more and more action were taken in Malaysia this will be a great thing~ Don't you think so?

Memulakan pendidikan peringkat rendah di Hulu Terengganu beliau kemudian menyambung pelajaran di Sekolah Menengah Tengku Ampuan Intan, Kuala Berang dan Sekolah Menengah Sultan Sulaiman, Kuala Terengganu.

Razali seterusnya melanjutkan pengajian di Universiti Malaya dalam bidang Sejarah dan memperoleh ijazah Sarjana Muda Sastera dengan Kepujian pada 1973 dan pengajian Sarjana Pendidikan di University of Birmingham, United Kingdom pada tahun 1986 hingga 1987.

Selepas beberapa tahun menjadi pendidik, beliau kemudian menjadi pensyarah di beberapa maktab perguruan dan pernah dilantik sebagai Timbalan Pengetua Maktab Perguruan Kota Bharu dan seterusnya Pengetua Maktab Perguruan Pasir Panjang, Kuala Terengganu dan Pengetua Maktab Perguruan Batu Rakit, Kuala Terengganu.

Kesungguhan ditunjukkannya dalam memartabatkan bidang pendidikan khususnya di Terengganu seterusnya membolehkan beliau dinaikkan pangkat sebagai Pengarah Jabatan Pelajaran Terengganu pada 2001.

Kecemerlangan ditonjolkan beliau dalam mengemudi bidang pendidikan negeri cukup terserlah hingga Terengganu mampu muncul negeri yang mencatatkan keputusan paling cemerlang dalam Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) dan kekal sehingga hari ini.

Jawatan terakhir disandang beliau dalam kerajaan adalah sebagai Pengarah Bahagian Pendidikan Guru, Kementerian Pelajaran pada 2003 sebelum dicalonkan sebagai calon Barisan Nasional (BN) bagi Parlimen Kuala Terengganu pada Pilihan Raya Umum 2004 dan memenanginya dengan menewaskan calon Pas, Dr Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi dengan majoriti 1,933 undi.

Beliau sekali lagi mengekalkan kemenangan di Parlimen Kuala Terengganu apabila dicalonkan dan mengalahkan calon Pas, Mohamad Sabu dengan majoriti 628 undi.

Pengalaman luas beliau sebagai warga pendidik dan sebagai pentadbir sektor pendidikan dengan memegang pelbagai jawatan memudahkan lagi tugasannya selepas dilantik sebagai Timbalan Menteri Pelajaran tahun ini.

Beliau yang pernah memegang jawatan Pengerusi, Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) sebelum menjawat jawatan Timbalan Menteri Pelajaran turut membawa banyak perubahan dalam mempastikan peminjam PTPTN membayar balik pinjaman bagi mempastikan kelangsungan dana untuk membantu pelajar lain supaya turut mendapat manfaat melalui tabung itu.

Selain cintanya dalam bidang pendidikan, beliau juga turut aktif dalam pelbagai aktiviti kemasyarakatan serta turut memegang jawatan dalam beberapa pertubuhan sukarela.

Beliau turut dianugerahkan beberapa darjah kebesaran dengan Darjah Paduka Mahkota (DPMT) pada 2004 yang membawa gelaran Datuk daripada Sultan Terengganu.

Razali meninggalkan seorang balu, To' Puan Nooraini Lob Yusoff dan lima anak yang semuanya lelaki iaitu Muhammad Nurazli, 30 yang juga Pengurus di Sime Darby Bhd; Asrul Shah, 27, bertugas sebagai Pegawai Tadbir Diplomatik; Khairul Amar, 23 , masih menuntut di Amerika Syarikat; Khairul Anwar, 21, menuntut di Universiti Industri Selangor dan yang bongsu, Khairul Arif, 15, pelajar di Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan Kajang, Selangor.

I just love to be near the sea...

Owh.. How wonderful is that...
Well my holiday over here wasn't that great...
but I do went to several places in UK and Paris....
Some people only can dream to do so...
But what I do want is just lazying under the hot sun by the sea..
Feeling the breeze slowly blowing on my cheeks...

Ceh ... Can only dream for it right now...

UK terms are a little bit different from Malaysia...

Today I worked in the iVillage and today also is my turn to cook dinner. Usually, when my working day clashed with my cooking day... Okay what happened with our society right now???... The issue was about "Sajak Kematian: Sakaratulmaut" being showed to Year 1 and 2 children in one school in Malaysia... The reason for the religious teacher to show them such video was just to make them aware of the importance to perform the 5 daily solat and to be a good muslim... weird ain't it??? some of the parents said that it is not suitable for these children.. Toward certain extent it might be true that it is not suitable for them. Reason? Just because it shows lots of frightening images of how Barzakh life going to be for those who commit a lot of sins... But it is the truth.. it is in the Quran... THAT IS THE REALITY... Personally for me, using this method is a good way for them to understand how Barzakh life going to be... Just a mere story telling session will not be sufficient for them to really understand it... They need the images so that they can relate to it. Kalau setakat dengar cerita masuk telinga kanan keluar telinga kiri lah...

So why some parents disagree with such good effort from the teacher?? Well from my few hours of YouTubing and reading MalaysiaKini and other internet sources... I can conclude over here that most of them feel that it is not suitable for such young minds as it will disturb them psychologically... Saying that their children having bad IMAGES in their mind... their behaviour changed... I wonder what kind of IMAGES that "her" (because there this one so called really CONCERNED MOTHER who make a report in TV3 Buletin Utama) child having and what kind of behaviour that changed??? If the child says that images of frightening Barzakh life... that will be great... As they will always remember about death... Mengingati mati itu mendekatkan kita kepada Tuhan... but this is onley a video of SAKARATULMAUT and parents have make a lot of fuss about it... but when the television stations and cinemas played lots of ghost, thriller, horror, full of blood, torture and etc... etc... they did not make any fuss on them.. I'm sure of it because our telly is full of it right??? Kekasih Ku Seru (which I really like hahahah), Anak Pontianak, Puaka Niyang Rapik and the list go on... I bet some of them just let their children watch it with them, sitting cosily in a couch screaming together when the ghost appear... Why they didn't bring it to the ministry??? Another weird thing right?

Okay the only problem was that the vid was shown to Year 1 and 2 children.. and the parents are just being overly concern about their children psychological development... Hey to tell you the truth... That video had existed a long time ago...during my primary schooling time I think or maybe older than that... and I think there are lots of children from my era that had watched it.... Exhibit A... Me myself...and I think my psychological development is just all right??? I haven't been turned into a psycho from just watching it during my primary years... To overcome the horrible imaginations and behaviour of the children (if it REALLLY..REALLY need help).. the parents just need to explain it to them.. yes that's it just explain..and I think InsyaAllah they will understand it...

I'm tired of thinking this small issue.. people can say what they want to say but I still think if we want to teach them.. it is better to start it from now.. when they are still young and when we are still able to "rotan" and give lecture to them when they become teenagers it will be hard to remind them about this... trust me.. "Melentur Buluh Biarlah dari Rebingnya"

Little voices that matter

Adults and the authorities should pause in the on-going debate about Maths and Sciench, and listen to what the pupils involved have to say.

SHOULD Science and Maths continue to be taught in English next year?

This whole year, we’ve heard from numerous parties regarding the above issue. But what about those actually going through the system? Has anyone asked what they have to say?

Not wanting to leave them out, StarEducation decided it was time we heard from the students themselves, and got their views on going through six years of primary school education with English as the medium of instruction for Science and Maths.

The students interviewed are the first batch to take those papers in that language, in the UPSR recently. And they had plenty to say about the matter.

I feel trapped. I have not mastered both English and Mandarin. As I am in a Chinese-medium school, the questions are in English and Mandarin. When I do not understand certain terms, I do not have an option to double check in Malay.

I still have a lot to learn. But I am not giving up. I chose to study in a Chinese school so that I would not have problem communicating with people who do not understand English and Malay.

I do not have problems answering Mathematics and Science questions in English.

Law Khen Hong, SJK (C) Soon Cheng Bukit Pinang

I do not have problems understanding questions written in English. I think it is worth studying the subjects in English, as we would not face much problems when we enter university.

Onn Chin Seng, SJK (C) Soon Cheng Bukit Pinang

I do not have problems with English because I have done a lot of homework. Even if there was no Mandarin translation, I think I would have no problem answering the questions. To me, Bahasa Malaysia is the hardest subject.

I have difficulties understanding the lessons taught in English. I find it easier learning Maths and Science in Mandarin as the teachers are more fluent in that language. I had to go for rehabilitation classes because I usually got Cs for Mathematics and Science,’’ said Aina.

Doing the subjects in English was not difficult because I understand the language better than Bahasa Malaysia. Schools should continue teaching Science and Maths in English because many students speak it in school. My teachers are generally good, but some are better than others.

The UPSR exams were quite easy because I studied a lot, especially for science. Doing the Maths and Science papers in English was not difficult because we have been learning them in that language since Standard One. They should definitely continue teaching Science and Maths in English, because it is an international language. I also have a few friends online and we chat in English.

Sometimes it is difficult learning those subjects in English because I don’t really understand everything. My parents do not know much English, and I have to go for tuition classes to get help. It would be good if they taught the subjects in Malay.

When I have problems with my school work I ask my teachers for help, or do my homework with friends. I don’t really ask my parents for help in Math and Science because they don’t speak English.

I use English only when I am in class, but doing the UPSR exams in English for Maths and Science was okay because I’m used to studying those subjects in that language. Maybe students should learn them in both languages or be given a choice.

I found the Maths and Science papers in the UPSR exams a bit difficult as I did not understand some of the questions. During school days, my parents are able to help me with my homework, but not all the time. If I had a choice, I would choose to study the subjects in Bahasa Malaysia because it’s easier.

I normal prefer studying in Mandarin because it is much easier to understand. But doing the subjects in English was not a problem because I speak both English and Mandarin at home. My mother is English-educated so I can ask for her help when I’m not sure about my homework. I also go for tuition for additional practice.

Chua Yean Yee, SRJK (C) Yuk Chai

The teachers are very good here and they teach us to be comfortable with the language. I didn’t face any problems in the UPSR exams or studying the subjects in English as it is my first language. But if I had a choice I would want to study them in Mandarin because that way, I’d get to improve on my Mandarin skills.

Gan Ming Ser, SRJK (C) Yuk Chai

Learning Science and Maths in English is good because if we don’t understand some parts in Mandarin, we can get them clarified in English. I don’t go for tuition so when I have problems with my school work, I ask my teachers and parents. They should continue teaching the subjects in English because I think the language is important for doing business, when we grow up.

Pang Zhenyi, SRJK Yuk Chai

There is no difference for me, whether I learn Maths and Science in English or Mandarin. I usually go to teachers and parents to get help, and I feel that it is important to know different languages. So I read books in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.

Michelle Wong Shin Min, SJK (C) Keat Hwa (S), Kota Setar district, Kedah

We have to get used to the English terms as Mathematics and Science are also taught in English in secondary school. It is not difficult to understand the language when we get used to it.

Jeevamunissen Ramachandran, SRJK (T) Barathy, Kota Setar district

We are used to learning Mathematics and Science in English. It would be difficult for us if we have to answer the questions in Malay. Even if there were no translations in Tamil, I think I would have no problem answering the examination questions.

I have no problem answering Mathematic and Science in English. After six years, we are used to it.

We would feel that we have wasted six years learning Mathematics and Science in English if the authorities decide to change the medium of teaching. My friends and I have been trying hard to familiarise ourselves with the English terms. Luckily the examination questions are printed in two languages. When we do not understand certain English terms, we refer to the questions written in Malay.

I feel Mathematics and Science should continue to be taught in English in schools. I never had problems with both subjects as my teachers were well-versed in teaching in English. It was fun and my grasp of the language has improved.

I attended tuition classes for both subjects as I wanted to do well in my UPSR exams. Most of my friends did not encounter much problems learning both subjects in English. Although I did not get to study both subjects in Bahasa Malaysia, I am happy to be among the first batch of students to do so in English.

I never had any problems studying Maths and Science in English. I helped myself by looking up scientific terms in books and by watching educational programmes on television. I also attended tuition classes.

Our teachers did their best to teach us although they were doing so for the first time. I hope the authorities will allow the present system to continue as we can get more reference material on both subjects in English.

The debate of ETeMS in Malaysia has been a tedious and lengthy debate in our education system... Every people (adult most of the time) have their own opinion. When I read this article it struck me.. yes we adult always think that we know what is best for our children. We never put their thought into count. It is time actually for us to listen to them and not deprave them from their learning and interest. Yes from the article I can conclude that most of the children love to learn Maths and Science in English.. but there is a glitch there. Why do I say so? Because the reporter only interviewed children from urban area.. not from rural area.. Damansara, Seremban, Kota Star, Petaling Jaya, Johor Baru... where are the children from Hulu Terengganu, Tanah Merah, and my own village.. Kampung Api-Api??? They did not count them... I'm an English teacher but I do feel that learning Maths and Science in Malay is much better.. but it is hard to justify myself... All in all I would like to say that this article did not represent all the children in Malaysia.. we have to ask all of them from all kinds of backgrounds...but this is also a good effort in listening to our children..

That what most Javanese people would say..and I think it is true.. I'm not a pure Javanese as my mum is a Bugis...but I think it is also apply to me. Some of you might be wondering what the heck is tempe.. According to Tempeh.info , "Tempeh is a fermented food made by the controlled fermentation of cooked soybeans with a Rhizopus mold (tempeh starter). The tempeh fermentation by the Rhizopus mold binds the soybeans into a compact white cake. Tempeh has been a favorite food and staple source of protein in Indonesia (and Malaysia of course) for several hundred years. But tempeh is now rapidly becoming more popular all over the world as people look for ways to increase their intake of soybeans and isoflavones. Back to business... Okay for our open house last 26th October 2006 I made my own tempe (sebab nye saya dah kemaruk nak makan sambal tempe )... to cook another Malay/Jawa delicacies...which I will post in another entry. Down here are two pictures of the tempe-s that I made...

Alhamdulillah all the tempe fermented nicely and none of it turn bad...Maybe due to my excessive habit of keep on checking my tempe every hour... Well the process was kinda difficult and lenghty but the result was rewarding... Of course.. dah lama tak makan tempe ma!!! craving for it like a pregnant woman hahahahaha Furthermore, to get the "ragi" which is kinda like yeast but this one is specially for tempe making.. I have to order it from Belgium huhu and the price is kinda expensive.... but what the heck ..kemaruk punya pasal... duit melayang untk makanan tak apa... Oklah.. I have to go.. need to do some shopping in ASDA... bye..bye...

Hello readers... Today a few friends of mine was involved in a badminton tournament.. well I don't know what was the tournament called.. Teacher kicked, slapped by two Form 2 girls

The incident between Azhana Ibrahim and two students of Sekolah Menengah Perlis was recorded on a handphone belonging to another student.

KANGAR: A 27-year-old teacher was allegedly kicked in her belly by a student in class yesterday.

Azhana Ibrahim says she wasn’t hurt but was traumatised

Physics teacher Azhana Ibrahim was assaulted after being involved in an argument with two Form Two students at 10am.

The argument was over a crude word which one of the students had written in a class project report.

The teacher sought an explanation from the students, both 14, which ended in a shouting match.

Azhana and the two students also traded slaps in the incident at Sekolah Menengah Perlis here.
District police chief Superintendent Yusof Mohd Diah said the teacher was kicked in the belly about two to three times during the incident.

"The teacher had advised the students about something that was written in a report which they submitted."

Azhana had no physical injuries, but she was traumatised.

She was accompanied by two other teachers when she lodged a report at the Kangar district police station.

The teacher had taught in Johor for five years before being transferred to Perlis in January.

The case comes in the wake of several disciplinary cases which occurred at the same school since last year.

There was also a case of lewd behaviour last year involving two students.

Just three days before, the school's principal was given a warning by the education authorities concerning a complaint lodged by a group of parents.

Parents of eight Muslim students, who were part of the school's brass band, claimed the school had directed their children to participate in a religious festival organised by a Taoist temple here.

This prompted the state Education Department to issue a warning to the principal, asking him to be more sensitive of the pupils' religious differences.

Meanwhile, a teacher who accompanied Azhana to the police station said the latter was traumatised.

"She was shaken when she came into the teachers' room for help. We then drove her to the police station."

The teacher, who declined to be named, said other students were called in to gang up on the teacher during the incident.

Azhana had apparently asked the two students to submit their physics folio assignment several times, but to no avail.

When the students did submit their reports, they had written gila babi (crazy swine) which was aimed at Azhana.

It is learnt that the words were written at the back cover of the report.

Azhana then questioned the students in front of a Form One class yesterday morning. A fight broke out after the teacher tried to advise the students and the incident was recorded on a student's handphone.

When contacted, state Education Department director Mansor Lat said a full report would be sought from the school.

n.b. Wargh!!!!!!!! That was my first impression when I read this article... I can't believe my eyes when I read this... Isk.. what happened to our "pemudi" nowadays huhuh scary though.. they are only 14.... not 41 but they acted as if they were bigger and older than the teacher... I thought my generation of students are already bad... but this has put BAD to another level huhuh scary..scary..scary... Adakah budak-budak tersebut ahli martial art?? Hisk kicked and slapped the teacher... amboi... what's wrong with them herm?? There must be something wrong.. did the teacher provoked them?? Maybe the authorities should investigate furthere... Herm... but overall I'm not saying that the girls have the right to do such thing to the teacher... just that we can't hear from one side only... yeah that's right... Even killers have their rights... herm kalau aku kena sepak dengan anak murid apa akan aku buat agaknya??? Sepak balik kot hahahhahaha no lah.. I myself don't know what will I do.. huhuh :P

~Merajuk Ku Bukan Lama~

Today is THE DAY for our LAC Presentation.. overall it was great and I think we have done our best but I think I have done a few mistakes while presenting (There this one part that I explained differently from what we have discussed before and I did stuttered a little bit). As I was typing this entry I have already read all the feedbacks given by my friends who have been good listeners hhuhuh lots of comments given (though few of them write as if they don't want to write anything herm....). Ayunni, Yasmin and I was the first group to get the ball rolling. Well I was the one who wished to go first but I don't expect that my wish will become true.. pity Yasmin as she was hoping that we will not be the first group presenting huhuhu Sorry Meng..Meng... .

Ok stop with today presentation, now back to the title of the entry... well this morning as our group was preparing to present I was busy with the computer and our slides (herm busy sangat kah?)..as I was making a last check up before our presentation I realise that there isn't any chair there, so I asked to this particular girl (you know who you are) if I can take the chair near to her group.. herm do you know what did she did??...she make a joke out of it... Well as I was in a hurry and scared a little bit (of course-lah 1st group.. what do you think??)... and also I was not in the right state of mind...I became mad at her (and the whole group I think for being so chicky at the wrong time).. well I become bitter .. so I just snap at her... Serve her right I think... then she just said "Buat lawak pagi-pagi pun tak boleh"....or something like that...I just can't listen clearly because I ignored her... It is not that she can't make a joke in the morning or what ever... It is just the timing was not right.. Didn't she see me busy with the computer and preparing our slides?? Didn't she see there isn't any chair near the computer and it is much better if there is one so that people who will be handling it can sit down? or is it just that she being just plain ignorant?? Through out the day I went on sulking on them...ignoring them...

But when I went back home... I felt miserable for acting that way... I know..I know... I'm popular for being too emotional... but lately things has been bad for me.. Life most probably had been treating me badly... I'm just hanging on the line right now... yes most of you might see me being a happy guy... not much a problem.. but deep down I'm just A GUY... no more that that.. I can break down when I feel the pressure.. but I wouldn't show it to you... My family just lost a member that we love so much... I'm in the pressure of assigments... Having a bad relationship with someone... everything is up side down nowadays... So when I'm being bitter just bare with me...and try to understand me.. When I'm sulking just let me be.. don't call me.. don't add oil to the fire... After a while I will cool down and then it will be okay... Gosh... how I miss my mum soooooooooooooooooo mmmuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

A simple SMS... Just like that...Tok Su passed away?? Innalillahi Wainnalillahirajiun.... Never thought that Tok Su will be leaving us forever. The last time I saw him was during my final trip back to Batu Pahat before I flew to UK. He was very healthy back then.. But God's willing...we who are just mere human being cannot do anything. I was down for today..but I don't want to show it...

THE cream and orange cafe with scalloped windows on India’s National Highway 31 dubs itself the “Compleat Family Hotel”.

But the only children inside were small boys hard at work, clearing away the plates.

“I ran away from school because the teacher used to beat me,” said spindly-legged Mukesh Kumar, 12, speaking softly as he wiped a table, gesturing to a welt on his foot.

Kumar said he had been working full-time for three months, even though he is two years below the minimum age for employees in homes, hotels and restaurants, as set by a key 2006 amendment to India’s child labour laws.

He lives in Bihar, one of India’s poorest states. Millions of children across the country also endure the hard grind of working life, often labouring as many as 12 hours a day for paltry wages.

India, since passing a 1986 law that banned those under 14 years of age from working in hazardous industries such as fireworks manufacture, has slowly strengthened legislation against child labour.

The 2006 amendment €” passed two years ago this month €” criminalised many hidden aspects of the problem and was hailed as a major breakthrough.

But activists say the new laws have made little progress in ending a practice rooted in India’s dire poverty.

“It is all about international image building,” said Kailash Satyarthi, a prominent advocate against child labour, who accuses the government of lacking the political will to enforce the law.

”When there is pressure from other countries, you can just show them that you have this good law.”

Indian officials say approximately half a million children have been removed from work and sent back to their villages or special boarding schools over the last decade.

But the government cannot say whether the number of children rescued outpaces the number of new children sent to work.

In fact, no one can agree on how many children are employed illegally.

The last census, in 2001, put the number of child workers at 12.6 million, while a major household health survey released two years ago and cited by the United Nations, estimated it was closer to 30 million.

But Satyarthi puts the real number today as high as 60 million.

Child welfare advocates also fear that many of those saved from child labour soon return to work.

“Reintegration of these children back into mainstream society remains a challenge,” said Simrit Kaur, a Unicef child protection specialist.

“Children are removed from exploitative situations but without a clear rehabilitation mechanism, at times, they fall back to probably worse situations.”

Government labour officials say they are improving on the information used to tackle child labour.

“We want to know the actual numbers so we can target those children in a more effective manner,” said Shree Ram Joshi, an Indian labour official who expects a clearer picture to emerge from a major new survey next year.

Government authorities and activists agree that the best way to fight child labour is to improve education and family earnings €” though a few quick-fixes exist.

In the meantime, children often say they must work because they learn nothing at school and are sometimes ill-treated at home.

“My parents were not good.

“My mother used to beat me,” said Abhishek, a small round-faced boy who looked about 10, working as a delivery boy at a food stall in the heart of New Delhi.

He left his home, bordering Uttar Pradesh state, three months ago and now sleeps at the stall where he found work for 800 rupees (RM59) a month.

”This is the right thing for me now,” he said, insisting he was 14.

Years later, many child workers like Abhishek would resent their childhood spent at work.

Chitranjan Kumar Varma, 28, ran away from his teacher’s beatings and his parents, who wanted him to stay at school, to learn how to drive. Fifteen years later he earns the equivalent of about US$150 (RM523) a month.

“Now I feel bad I didn’t study. Now I understand what studying can bring you,” said Varma.

“I would have gone ahead in life. Now I can’t do anything but be a driver.” €” AFP

KALAU MALAS CAKAP JELAH) ... YES I admit that I'm lazy...there are lots of things that I want to type down... my cookies making over here, my raya experience in UK, my trip to London, Leeds and Manchester, my work hunt and interview, my sulking friend (no offence), my LIFE.... hisk everythings are already in the mind..just needed to be put into words and typed in here...I don't know what got into me lately.. I do all my study works and I find the time to do other things but I have been neglecting my blog.. herm maybe it is already the peak where you just get bored with things.. isk..isk.. no..no..
